Before, Apayang is just a 'nearby' mountain of Talamitam. It was just then a background for souvenir photos of mountaineers at the summit of Talamitam. It was just nearby, but because climbing it is 'prohibited', it was as if far.
Apayang is actually conjoined with Talamitam. Technically, Apayang and Talamitam is just a 'single' mountain. Proobably this mountain was parasitic cone or vent of Talamitam when it was still an active volcano.
Since Apayang and Talamitam were twins, it is philosophical to experience these rough terrain as a 'single itinerary hike'. Although, this mountaines were siblings, mountaineers should never worry of having a 'monotonous' hiking experience. The green Apayang offers a great relief from the sunny Talamitam. Perhaps mountaineers could arrange a hiking schedule or itinerary which would consider the sun-time orientation. During gentle time, probably hikers could trekk along open Talamitam trail while during scorching time, hikers could be relieved by the foliage while hiking Apayang. I don't know if this approach really make sense because I am still about to try it soon.

We climb Apayang after climbing Talamitam on October 31, 2015. It was around 2:00 PM when we started descending from the summit of Mt. Talamitam. From Talamitam, we passed through tall cogon grass... I was quite ancious because I did not bring arm protection... I never expected that we will be climbing Apayang. When we reached the covered slope of the mountain, I was full of itchy rashes but it did not affect my enthusiasm to climb this mountain for the first time despite of my regular hike to Talamitam.
After 30 minutes, we reached the summit of the mountain. the view of the rugged terrains of Cavite and Batangas is very spectacular. The downhill view of the seas, the fertile plains and the winding river is so delightful. I would confidently say that Apayang offers a perspective of the beautiful landscape of mountainous Cavite which is far 'different' but equally amazing from that of Mt. Talamitam.
Since it was the day before "Undas" ; we offered a short prayer for our departed friends and relatives upon reaching the summit.
After 30 minutes of enjoying the cool breeze and relaxing view, we started to descend. I was with some newbies that time, their eyes were manifesting eagerness to understand more the spirituality of mountaineering.
I was not surprised to hear that some of my companions promised for a next hike!
